Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper Collector's Edition

The game is based on the creepiest fairy-tale about the Pied Piper, a weird man, who charms children with his music and leads them away from the town never to return. This haunting legend seems perfect for a casual adventure game but its poor fulfillment doesn’t let this premise fly far enough.

Besides this predictable story Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper has a usual gameplay. As a result, we have to deal with the standard “shop-list” type, which feature one or more objects that must be manipulated before they can be found. There are also some mini-games and puzzles scattered about the game, along with the usual adventuring paths involving gathering items from every location. Although the puzzles range from easy to difficult, most of them has been played before many times.

The one thing that really deserves for credit there is its stunning graphics. Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper has a good number of truly beautiful locations but they are unfortunately the background for absolutely uninteresting interactive puzzles. However, the background music, sound effects, and even the dialogue fuse the experience together into a delightful mixture.

With little for experienced gamers to dive into, Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper becomes an exercise in mediocrity that might intrigue only inexperienced players. Of course, the designers have created a plethora of wonderful dark and creepy environments, but we need something more than good-looking illustrations.
